Truly dog friendly, Best Friend Holiday Retreat is in Tarra Valley near Yarram, located less than three hours from Melbourne and adjacent to a lovely waterfall with rockpool swimming hole. All cabins are individually fenced and dogs must sleep inside at night.
Caravan and camping sites together with individually fenced caravan and camping sites are available from September until May.
Six securely fenced, off leash areas including a dog playground and a giant dog ball run. If the owners agree, the dogs may mix with other dogs, however as per the dog rules available on the website, you do not enter if someone else is using that particular area unless you ask first.
Just 35 minutes drive away, Woodside Beach, the start of Ninety Mile Beach, is a fantastic off lead beach all year round. Once you get back to Best Friend Holiday Retreat, there is a dog hydro bath available at no additional charge.
The nearby wonderful Tarra Bulga National Park is a must to visit but as no dogs are allowed, luxury day use kennels are available, additional charges apply.
